SPLITMARK / STOPWATCH
TIMING INSTRUMENT

Online Stopwatch

00:00:00.00

Elapsed time is calculated from browser timestamps and shown as hours, minutes, seconds, and hundredths. This is an everyday timing utility, not certified laboratory equipment. Display precision is not a guarantee of measurement accuracy.

Lap Records

Each lap stores the interval since the previous marker, the cumulative split, and the difference from the preceding completed lap. Up to 200 laps can be kept in one session.

LAP LAP TIME TOTAL TIME DIFFERENCE

No laps yet. Start the online stopwatch, then select Lap while it is running.

Read Your Results

Fastest, slowest, and average values are computed only after two completed laps so the comparison is real rather than guessed.

FASTEST LAP—
SLOWEST LAP—
AVERAGE LAP—
COMPLETED LAPS0

No completed laps yet. Record two or more laps to compare durations on the chart.

Countdown Timer

Use the countdown when you already know how long a session should last. Remaining time is calculated from the clock, never shown below zero, and will not ring if the browser or device is asleep.

ONLINE TIMER
00:05:00

Selecting a preset fills the fields; it does not start the timer.

Choose a Timing Session

These durations are starting points for a countdown, not prescriptions for work, rest, or health.

How to Use an Online Stopwatch

  1. Select Start to begin timing elapsed time from zero.
  2. Select Lap to record an interval while the clock continues.
  3. Select Pause to freeze the displayed elapsed time.
  4. Select Start again to resume without losing accumulated time.
  5. Review the lap table for lap time, total time, and difference.
  6. Copy the session or export a CSV file for personal notes.
ELAPSED TIME
The running total since Start, including time across pauses once you resume.
LAP TIME
The duration of one interval: the gap between two lap markers.
SPLIT / TOTAL TIME
The cumulative elapsed time at that marker, from the original start.
EXAMPLE
Lap 1 at 00:32.41, lap 2 at 01:04.26 means the second lap lasted 00:31.85.

What Can You Time?

These examples describe ordinary household, study, and rehearsal tasks. Splitmark Stopwatch is not medical equipment, athletic certification, or a professional performance lab.

Study sessions

Example: time how long a problem set actually takes instead of estimating afterward.

Stopwatch, unless you already capped the session

Tip: use laps at each section so you can see which problems consumed the hour.

Reading practice

Example: record the time to finish three pages of dense text.

Stopwatch for measurement, countdown for a planned window

Tip: pause if you are interrupted so the elapsed figure stays honest.

Cooking preparation

Example: rest dough for 15 minutes or time a simmer you already decided should end.

Countdown is usually a better fit

Tip: stay nearby; a suspended browser tab may not finish the alert.

Household tasks

Example: see how long it takes to clear a counter or sort a drawer.

Stopwatch

Tip: one lap per room produces a simple comparison without extra tools.

Exercise intervals

Example: mark work and rest intervals during a personal routine at home.

Stopwatch with laps, or countdown for a known rest

Tip: treat the numbers as personal notes, not certified training data.

Presentation rehearsal

Example: time a five-minute talk and lap at each slide.

Stopwatch for rehearsal, countdown if the slot is fixed

Tip: export the CSV if you want to compare two run-throughs later.

Classroom activities

Example: give a class a 10-minute independent task visible on a shared screen.

Countdown

Tip: start only after instructions are finished so the remaining time matches the activity.

Personal projects

Example: measure writing, drawing, or repair work in honest blocks.

Either tool, depending on whether the end is known

Tip: reset between distinct jobs so lap tables stay readable.

Understanding Time Measurements

The display can show hundredths of a second. That is a formatting choice. Browser clocks are convenient; they are not a substitute for calibrated timing instruments.

Milliseconds One thousandth of a second. 1 second = 1,000 milliseconds. Internal calculations use millisecond timestamps even when the screen shows hundredths.
Hundredths of a second The two digits after the decimal in HH:MM:SS.CS. 1 second = 100 hundredths. A changing hundredth is not proof of laboratory-grade accuracy.
Seconds The familiar unit of elapsed time. Sixty seconds make one minute.
Minutes 1 minute = 60 seconds. Useful for kitchen work, study blocks, and short rehearsals.
Hours 1 hour = 60 minutes. The stopwatch keeps hours in view so long sessions do not roll over silently.
Lap time Duration of one interval, measured from the previous lap marker (or from start for the first lap).
Split time Cumulative elapsed time at a marker. In the table this is Total Time.
Elapsed time The running total shown on the main display. Pausing freezes it; starting again continues from that stored total.
